Job Title: Insight & Planning Specialist (Marketing) – Maternity Cover


Reporting to: Head of Strategic Insight & Planning


Grade: Grade 5 with a starting salary of €44,259. The Scale for this Grade is €44,259 - €60,874; with Long Service increments of LSI1: €63,062 & LSI2: €65,246.

Job Purpose:

As part of the SI&P team be responsible for leading, developing, implementing and proactively managing consumer, customer and sustainability insight to support Bord Bia’s Central Marketing function.


Key Organisational Relationships

Strategic Insight & Planning Team, Central Marketing Team, Sectoral Departments, and RTM Division.


Key External Relationships

Client Companies, Research, Insight and Planning Agencies, Other State Agencies, Marketing Society and Marketing Institute


Key Accountabilities


  1. Proactively identify the strategic insights requirement for Bord Bia’s Central Marketing team in line with brand strategy.
  2. Generate deep-rooted consumer and customer insights across domestic and target export markets to unlock commercial growth for our Bord Bia brands.
  3. Collaborate to build strong, differentiated brand purpose and identity with brand owners as well as internal and external stakeholders on key projects.
  4. Manage allocated budgets efficiently in accordance with organisational policy and procedure to ensure value for money is delivered and all internal and statutory governance commitments are met by the required deadlines.
  5. Ensure that Bord Bia articulates its brand foundations to best resonate with consumer/customer behaviour and need states.


Main Duties


  1. Commission and implement research plans to enable our brands and sectors commercial growth
  2. Have a keen focus on “who” we’re talking to and “what” we’re saying, leading the efforts to listen, understand and anticipate consumer and customer needs while feeding into and influencing the Central Marketing team and their work within the communications landscape.
  3. Figure out who the growth target is and what messages would be most relevant to the consumer/customer will be at the forefront of these efforts.
  4. Develop B2B Trade customer personas across key sectors, key markets and key customer types
  5. Develop B2C consumer insights across key markets (in conjunction with other members of the SI&P Division)
  6. Prepare brand insights documents focusing on key learnings for brands and sectors.
  7. Track market trends and develop insight implications for the brands and sectors, presenting them to the Marketing team on a regular basis
  8. Act as a bridge for collaboration between the SI&P and Central Marketing teams.
  9. Map consumer/customer journeys to understand where they are and when they are most receptive to messages.
  10. Ensure all projects are delivered on time and within budget.






  • Degree qualification in relevant discipline e.g. Marketing



  • 3+ years’ experience in strategic insight and planning
  • Understanding and knowledge of the Irish consumer food, drinks and horticulture sector
  • Extensive experience in Market Research, Consumer and Customer (B2B) insight planning across markets
  • Relationship development experience with colleagues, senior executives, suppliers, senior marketing teams


Required Skills:

  • Commercially driven expertise in consumer and customer insights
  • In-depth knowledge of qual and quant methodologies
  • Strong ability to understand behaviours and responses from consumers and customers of different countries and cultures
  • Easily coordinates, implements and analyses results from global market research projects

Proven track record in successfully influencing and shaping the execution of branding and marketing communications campaigns domestically and internationally
